With the construction of the small „Guest house“ in Cologne, we have repeated
the experiment that O. M. Ungers applied to his „House without attributes“
12 years before in a rigorous and uncompromising manner. It concerns an
autonomous architecture that is self-reflecting, concentrating only upon the
essential, the absolute necessary. The Guest House was originally designed by
OMU in 1994.
For the outer facade we stringently followed his design concepts, for the inside we realised
our own. The abstraction of the outside follows scale and measure, the one of
inside refers to colour and form.
