SL 145 Programmable Structure
The design concept for SL 145 is to generate a building system that is able to carry manifold programming.
It deals with the principle of structure and content. The structural system was developed and optimised with the aim that it determines the outer and inner appearance of the space.
The building volume was developed – in accordance with the zoning plan – in a way that it integrates two old beeches into the ample courtyard.
On the ground level, there are two column-free halls, which are separated (and connected) through the courtyard.
They are covered by an ultra-light Virendeel space framework, which become two storeys high along „Am Wassermann“ street.
The system as a whole offers a high level of flexibility, which enables the space to react to social change processes and ensure adequate variability of use.
All zones can be connected horizontally, as well as vertically, and thus allow the user to freely design his own plan configuration.
