SWARM
A residence in Ghana

Project status: preliminary design
Client: R. Opoku
Team: smo architektur + arup
Area: 540 m2
Costs: 1.200.000 €

A swarm of cloned elements forms the basic structure or spatial arrangement of the complex, and populates the entire site. The principle of flow, which is inherent to the swarm, and the plasticity that is associated with it allow for an interweaving of structure and landscape. As the landscape is forming the organism, the organism is forming the landscape and merges with it. The clone, alone or in multitude, offers adequate shelter for the different uses of the residence, from the garage to the grand saloon. It creates blurred transitions from the inside to the outside.
